INJURY
Ankle Sprains (verb): The stretching or partial tear of ligaments (which connect two bones) or tendons (which connect muscle to bone). An ankle sprain happens when the ligaments that support the ankle get overly stretched or torn, due to external or internal factors.
SIGN & SYMPTOMS
There are three grades of ankle sprains based on how much damage is done to the ligaments:
MILD – Mild pain & disability. Slight point tenderness & swelling.
MODERATLY – Tearing, pop or snap sensation. Moderate pain & disability, swelling & discoloration.
SEVERE - Severe pain, swelling & discoloration,
unable to bear weight & move ankle.
